The Department of Economic Development has two main areas of responsibility. On the one hand the Department of Economic Development is tasked with ensuring that the right environmental framework and initiatives are put in place to foster economic growth and job creation in the province, and thereby push back the boundaries of poverty. On the other hand, the Department of Economic Development is also responsible for ensuring that sound financial management policies and structures are in place within GPG. To that end, the vision of the Department of Economic Development is therefore:
"To become a centre of excellence providing economic policy direction, development facilitation, financial management leadership and contributing to a conducive environment for labour absorbing economic growth and poverty reduction in Gauteng". |
